1. The A-Grammar is a practice grammar for learners at levels A1 and A2 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is suitable both as additional material to accompany the course and for individual work.

2. The A grammar only contains grammatical structures that are important for levels A1 and A2. The focus is not on completeness, but rather on the relevance of grammatical phenomena for language use. Each grammar topic is clearly divided into:

• an illustrated example to introduce the topic
• an overview of the grammatical forms
• Notes on structures and use
• special notes on syntax
• communicative exercises on the topic.

3. Different forms of exercise are offered to learn and practice grammatical structures. These include, among other things, assignment exercises, fill-in-the-blank texts, and the specification-based formulation of sentences or texts. The exercises are integrated into communicative contexts such as dialogues, emails or short informative texts. The situations relate to everyday and working life and use vocabulary from both areas.
4. Grammatical rules and work instructions are also included in English translation.
5. The book's appendix also offers speaking exercises for groups and tandem learners to practice grammatical structures. It also includes verb lists and a thematic overview of exercises that serve to expand vocabulary and/or can be used as speaking prompts.
